The costume includes a long sleeved shirt, pants and a hood with devil horns. Originally the outfit had a tail, but a fan from university of arizona ripped it off in the last game in 1961. Gary Richardson began appearing at ASU football games as the little Sun Devil when he was in the 6th grade, and was a regular mascot from 1959-1961. He always appeared along side an adult sized Sun Devil.
